In the 3rd Congressional District, two Republicans--Scott Angelle and Clay Higgins--will face each other in a runoff on Dec. 10.

ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says no surprises.

"Scott Angelle was supposed to clean up in the third Congressional district and he did, the only question mark was going to be who is opponent was going to be." Stockley said.

In the 3rd Congressional District, Angelle narrowly beat Higgins 29-26 percent. Angelle is on the Public Service Commission, while Higgins has gained famed as a law enforcement officer. Stockley says many voters like Higgins' message.

"Flamboyant, somewhat charismatic candidate, a little bit outside of the mainstream, but I suppose, if this was ever a time to be a non-traditional candidate, this was the year," Stockley said.
