AirAsia Flight 8501 disappeared in the midst of stormy conditions after leaving Surbaya, Indonesia for Singapore on Sunday, carrying 162 people: 138 adults, 16 children, and 1 infant. The plane lost contact with Jakarta air traffic control one hour before it was scheduled to land.

Dozens of relatives gathered at the Surabaya airport in the hopes of learning more about the status of their families and loved ones, The Associated Press told Fox News.

A search and rescue operation was undertaken by both Indonesia and after the flight was confirmed to be missing; the air search has been postponed for the night due to poor weather and will continue on Monday. Ships searching the area will continue their search on Monday as well.
