Hazmat Accident Causes Road Closure On I-10 Eastbound
UPDATE 3:20 p.m. Interstate 10 remains closed because of an hazmat accident involving phosphoric acid at milepost 119. As of now eastbound traffic is being diverted at Lafayette to the north on Interstate 49. Motorist will then take U.S. Highway 190 East across the basin. The westbound lanes of the roadway are now open at LA 415 (Lobdell).
At 8:20 this Saturday morning a traffic slowdown began affecting the eastbound lanes of I-10. At 8:36, Louisiana State Police issued an alert that I-10 Eastbound was closed because of a crash.
That crash occurred between Exit 121 and Exit 127, approximately 5 miles east of Henderson. Because the crash occurred on the raised portion of the roadway it will take extra time to clear the incident.
