If your child is homeschooled or goes to a school where tackle football is not offered, he may have the opportunity to play for a team that has not only competed for state football titles, but for a national title as well!

Varsity and JV Football registration (Grades 6-12) is happening now and AHSA is looking for some more Commandos to add to their team.

"We've got kids from Eunice, New Iberia, really we pull from around the Acadiana area," says AHSA Head Football Coach Jeremy Davidson. "We are getting underway and we really need some kids to come out and help us participate this season."

Acadiana Home School Athletics is going Independent this season, which allows them to develop their own schedule against not only teams from here in Louisiana, but teams in Texas and Missisippi, which is designed to help them best be able to participate in the national championship tournament, which AHSA competed in two years ago in Florida. The Commandos also competed in the state championship game last season, a game that James P. Bitterman aired on Talkradio 960 AM.

If you are interested, AHSA holds their practices from 5-8 pm every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the practice field behind First Assembly of God Church on 3555 Verot School Road. Coach Davidson says they will keep registration open throughout the football season. You can also contact AHSA by calling 337-500-8942 for more information.

Acadiana Home School Athletics is also hosting their first ever Pee Wee Flag Football Event for children in the age groups of 4-5 years old and 6-7 years old. Coach Davidson says the high school players will be there working with the children.

"Your kid will be in an environment to grow them on the football field but even beyond that," says Coach Davidson. We grow men. When they leave our program, they really know how to handle themselves in life... We really truly take advantage of being able to pour into young men's lives. That, to me, is the cornerstone for this program."
