[From 2013}

If you think the front lawns of homes along the Vermilion River are spectacular, take a look at the back lawns from the river itself.

When my friend Tye called me Sunday to take a boat ride on the Vermilion, I didn't even have to think about it, the answer was, "What time should I meet you?"

I used to take the beauty of the Vermilion River for granted, especially since the only time I crossed it was over bridges.  In a car it passes you at the glimpse of an eye, and many times you smell it before you even see it.

These days I have a new found respect for our hometown river, seeing it from a boat ride will do that to you.  The grandeur of the homes and the lawns along the Vermilion is simply breathtaking.

I'm no photographer, and the boat was moving, but I tried to capture the elegance of the river with simply a cell phone.  These photos in no way capture the full beauty of the river bank, but with a bit of imagination, you can take yourself there.
