A 3-Year-Old Playing With A Lighter Starts A Fire

Lafayette firefighters were called out to Timothy Drive Monday evening after they were called to fight a fire in the bedroom of a home.

Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says the woman and her three children were all able to get out of the home safely, but a bedroom and its contents were destroyed by fire.  The other rooms in the home sustained heave smoke and water damage.

Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire was accident.

The family is currently in need of clothing: The girls wear size 6 and 18 months, the boy is in need of size 3T.
