Team Phenomena (aka FIRST Robotics Team 3616), is a group of approximately forty high school students from several area schools who work together and compete in robotics. They're based at Comeaux High School and will be participating in the FIRST Robotics project again this school year. They'll find out what the 2015 game is in January and will then begin to design, build and operate their robot. As I'm sure you can imagine, an activity like this requires a lot of funding, which comes mostly from donations. These young people do several fundraisers throughout the year with some help from generous businesses including Raising Cane's, Sonic, O'Charley's and more. On Tuesday, October 21, the team was out in full force at Raising Cane's on Kaliste Saloom demonstrating their winning 2014 robot and collecting 15% on orders placed at the restaurant. More events are planned:

  • World’s Finest Chocolate Sale -  selling $1 chocolate bars in October.
  • Sonic Nights - November 1st from 11am – 2pm at Sonic on Johnston near East     Broussard. The kids will be there selling Sonic Community Cards for $5. These are coupons to use at any Sonic.
  • November 19th from 5pm – 8pm at Sonic on Johnston near East Broussard. We will be selling the Sonic Community Cards and 10% of sales during these hours will go to support Team Phenomena.
  • Steampunk Arts and Science Festival – November 15th. The Steampunk and Makers Fair is a celebration of the marriage of arts and science! Presented by Parc Sans Souci downtown Cite’ Des Arts and the Lafayette Science Museum! . . . And they have invited the Phenomenal Robotics Team 3616 to be a part of their first annual event! Come out to Parc Sans Souci from 11-7:00 p.m. Vendors and exhibitors and food and beverages will be available in the park. They will be showing off the Holy Cow and Atlas robots with an awesome opportunity for you to sponsor a part of the machine!
