84-Year-Old Wins $590 Powerball Because She Cut The Line

Gloria C. Mackenzie, 84, of Florida won the historical $590 million Powerball jackpot.  Meanwhile a local mom of two, went home empty handed.

The story goes like this, 34-year-old Mindy Crandell allowed Gloria C. Mackenzie to cut in front of her at a Publix grocery store.  Crandell was waiting in line to by a Powerball ticket with her 10-year-old daughter when she noticed that the 84-year-old had stepped in line, cutting in front of her.  The clerk behind the counter noticed what had happened, and actually said something to the elderly woman but Crandell said it wasn't a problem.  This one act of kindness may have potentially caused her to lose out on purchasing the winning ticket

Despite it all, Crandell feels she did the right thing by setting a good example for her daughter and doesn’t regret her actions. In her words, “Sometimes it's better to be patient than right.”
