An 8 year old student at J Wallace James Elementary school decided he wanted to help feed the needy, so he raised money by selling his artwork. The Advertiser reports Oliver Gallagher learned of a neighbor raising enough money to buy a flock of chickens through Heifer International by selling cookies. Oliver's initial goal was to raise $120 for the purchase of a goat. He set up a location at the Downtown Artwalk in July, sold prints for $2.00 apiece, and far exceeded his goal The funds were used to purchase a water buffalo for a family in India. The animal can be used to plow fields, and their milk is reportedly very nutritious.
