Attorneys are often the brunt of many a cruel joke. They are also widely viewed by a large segment of the population in a less than favorable light. The nature of their job is what automatically condemn them to that public point of view.

In many cases, the attorney is simply the messenger and not responsible for the way the law is written or adjudicated. Still, they are the face of the case and are the people that are held responsible for the outcomes.

One 75-year-old St. Tammy Parish resident was obviously less than pleased with the way her attorney was handling her bankruptcy case. Patricia Currie of Mandeville reportedly walked into her attorney's office while he was working there alone. She sat and waited in his lobby wearing plastic bags on her feet and hands. She sat with a towel on her lap.

When the attorney walked into the lobby to see who had entered his office he encountered Ms. Currie. It was at that time Ms. Currie produced a .410 shotgun from beneath the towel and told the attorney that she was there to kill him.

The attorney was able to subdue Ms. Currie and wrestle the weapon away from her. When St. Tammy Parish Deputies arrived on the scene they reported that Ms. Currie was very uncooperative.

Currie was booked into St. Tammany Parish jail and faces several charges. Among those charges are aggravated assault with a firearm, resisting an officer, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, and illegal carrying of a weapon during a crime of violence.
