There are 5 things that you should NOT do for a great nights sleep.  Most people know you should not stare at you phone before bed due to the light but there are other important things you should not do as well.

1.  Don't drink water.  Two reasons why you shouldn't.  First, something cold will wake you up.  Secondly, drinking water before bed may have you waking up in the middle of the night having to go to the bathroom.

2.  Don't smoke a cigarette.  Nicotine is a stimulant.

3.  Don't play a video game.  The light from the TV can wake you up, just like your phone.  Also, your brain will become active and won't want to sleep right away.

4.  Don't let your pet jump in bed with you.  You toss and turn when your pet is in bed with you.  You may not think you do, but you do.  In one study, 63% of people who let a pet sleep with them didn't get a restful nights sleep.

5.  Don't shower.  Here's why.  If you have always showered at night, it's fine to take a shower before bed but if you normally take a shower in the morning, your body associates taking a shower with 'waking up'.  So don't take a shower at night if you are usually a morning showerier.
