5 Things You Need To Know About Buying Sunglasses

The Academy of Ophthalmology and eye doctors say there are 5 things you need to know before you buy sunglasses.

It's summertime and everyone should have great eye gear.  And great sunglasses don't have to be expensive.

• Every pair of sunglasses should have 100% U.V. protection.
• The bigger the sunglasses the better.  They protect a larger area.
• The color of the lenses doesn't matter.  Light or dark doesn't matter when it comes to U.V. protection.
• Polarized lenses do reduce glare.  'Polarized' doesn't mean U.V. protection.  If you do choose to purchase polarized lenses make sure they have 100% U.V. protection.
• You don't have to spend a ton on sunglasses.  Ten dollar sunglasses with 100% U.V. protection will work just as well as expensive sunglasses.
