256th Called To Help Crowley Evacuations
The Louisiana National Guard's 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team has sent a truck and two soldiers to help with evacuations in Crowley.
The 225th Engineer Brigade has sent a high-water truck to Marksville, and units are on standby statewide.
Staff Sgt. Denis Ricou says the guard also brought about 50,000 empty sandbags Thursday to Livingston Parish.
Crowley, Mayor Greg Jones says residents of about 10 houses called for help.The mayor estimates water got into more than 20. Jones says most of that was wakes from trucks.
He added streets were draining well Thursday afternoon, but some still have water a foot deep.
Police in Marksville say the evacuation there was outside city limits.
