Two separate crashes involving dump trucks resulting in two deaths for people on the other side of the massive vehicles. Both of them happened Wednesday morning.

In the first crash, in Moss Bluff, State troopers say Dwight Dunaway of Sulphur lost control of his Toyota Avalon and crashed into a dump truck after crossing the centerline of Highway 378 Spur near Sutherland Road, hitting it in the rear axle.

In the second crash, near the town of Iowa, Kelly Clark of Lake Charles lost control of her Honda CR-V and crashed into a dump truck after crossing the centerline of Highway 383, hitting it head-on.

While both Dunaway and Clark died in the crashes, the dump truck drivers suffered zero to minor injuries.

Troopers expect impairment was a factor in Kelly Clark’s crash. Toxicology samples from both crashes have been taken and will be analyzed.
