17 Indicted For Gang Activity In Abbeville

17 individuals have been indicted for alleged gang activity in Abbeville. Charges reportedly include criminal street gang violation, racketeering, and conspiracy to commit racketeering. According to an AP report, the gang calls itself The Gremlins. They're a local gang.

State Police colonel Michael Edmonson says local gangs can present a bigger problem than national gangs.  "When you think about gangs, you think these are some of these national gangs that are exhibiting across the country - California, Chicago, New York, but these are neighborhood gangs. We see them across the state of Louisiana. They can be the worst because there is no hierarchy."  He added more charges my be pending, including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, drug trafficking,and aggravated assault with a firearm.
